In this English lesson you will learn how to use WISH in English. There are different ways to use Wish in English. For example, you can use it as a fixed expression: 

We wish you a Merry Christmas

I wish you all the best in the future.

Wish = want

You can use it with an infinitive to mean want:

I wish to speak to the manager.

I wish to make a complaint about the service.

wish + (that):

– I wish that I lived in New York. 

– I wish I had gone to the beach.

Wish + would

And finally, we can use wish + would:

– I wish you wouldn’t speak so much.
