In this English lesson you will learn how to use adverb phrases of frequency in English.
Frequency adverbs can take an end position in sentences. For example:
- I see my school friends from time to time.
- He sees his friends every now and again.
They can take a front position:
- From time to time I see my school friends.
- Every now and again he sees his school friends.
Frequency + a + time period
Once in a while I go to the gym.
He goes to the gym several times a month.
Mid position
We can use never, hardly ever, rarely, sometimes, quite often in a mid position.
Examples:
I hardly ever go to the gym.
I never eat pasta or pizza. I don’t want to get too fat.
