Adverb phrases of frequency

By Admin 1 Comment

adverb phrases of frequency

In this English lesson you will learn how to use adverb phrases of frequency in English.

Frequency adverbs can take an end position in sentences. For example:

  • I see my school friends from time to time.
  • He sees his friends every now and again.

They can take a front position:

  • From time to time I see my school friends.
  • Every now and again he sees his school friends.

Frequency + a + time period

Once in a while I go to the gym.

He goes to the gym several times a month.

Mid position

We can use never, hardly ever, rarely, sometimes, quite often in a mid position.

Examples:

I hardly ever go to the gym.

I never eat pasta or pizza. I don’t want to get too fat.
